Quint’s Unquestionable Virtuosity

Violinist Philippe Quint makes Berlin debut

Grammy Award–nominated violinist Philippe Quint made his Berlin debut at the Komische Oper New Year’s concerts on December 30 and January 1. Quint played John Corigliano’s The Red Violin: Chaconne for violin and orchestra. With searing, flawless virtuosity, Quint’s performance was the highlight in a program of film music by Bernard Hermann to John Williams under the direction of Carl St. Clair. A sizzling encore, Corigliano’s “Red Violin” Caprice No. 5, brought down the house.
