Music director Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and the New Century Chamber Orchestra continue their 20th anniversary season with four Bay Area performances March 1–4 saluting the music of Bay Area composers.

“Sounds of the Bay Area” features Emergence from jazz violinist Evan Price (formerly of the Turtle Island Quartet), Gordon Getty’s Four Traditional Pieces, and John Adams’ Shaker Loops. Two contrasting mandolin works round out the program.

Mandolinist Mike Marshall joins the conductorless orchestra as soloist and will perform his own composition Concerto No. 1 for Mandolin and String Orchestra. Fellow Bay Area mandolinist Caterina Lichtenberg performs Vivaldi’s Concerto for Mandolin in C. For details, visit ncco.org.
