Mark O’Connor Unveils New Symphony
Elevations will be presented by the New Century Chamber Orchestra and violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg
Fiddler, composer, and author Mark O’Connor will premiere his latest symphony, Elevations, with the New Century Chamber Orchestra, led by music director and violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, May 19–22 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The symphony is divided into two movements. The first deals in three landscapes—desert, mountain, ocean—and the second analyzes the cultural melting pot of European Americans, African Americans, and Native Americans. A seminar on the O’Connor Violin Method will take place May 20–22 at San Domenico School in San Anselmo, California. ncco.org
