Kurt Sassmannshaus Launches 'Violin Master Class'

The idea came to strings educator Kurt Sassmannshaus during a jet flight to a Texas violin competition: what would be the best way to introduce the finest violin-playing techniques to students anywhere in the world? The answer: Violin Master Class. The website—created after four years of planning by the chairman of the string department and Dorothy Richard Starling Chair of Classical Violin at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati—has lessons on a variety of playing techniques (for all skill levels) illustrated by filmed segments and augmented with downloadable instruction files. The site offers news on competitions and auditions as well as an online chat forum.
