Juilliard Hosts Bernard Greenhouse Tribute
The Juilliard School will hold a memorial for former Juilliard faculty member and alumnus, cellist Bernard Greenhouse (1916–2011), on Thursday, October 20 at 5 pm in Juilliard’s Rosemary and Meredith Willson Theater (155 West 65th Street, 3rd Floor). Greenhouse was a founding member of the Beaux Arts Trio and one of the most distinguished chamber musicians of his generation. Scheduled speakers for this tribute honoring Greenhouse’s life and legacy include Juilliard president Joseph W. Polisi; Juilliard faculty member Timothy Eddy; New England Conservatory faculty member and Juilliard alumnus, Paul Katz; Greenhouse’s daughter, Elena Delbanco; and Juilliard cello faculty assistant and Juilliard alumnus, Dane Johansen, who also will perform. Also, Eddy will perform a piece for cello quartet with three of his students and a piece with his quartet, the Orion Quartet (Daniel Phillips and Todd Phillips, violins; Steve Tenenbom, viola; and Timothy Eddy, cello). For details, call (212) 799-5000, ext. 329, or e-mail events@juilliard.edu.
