Apple Hill String Quartet Returns to Ireland
Quartet played works by Haydn, Schumann, and a premiere by Daniel Sedgwick
In December, the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music’s “Playing for Peace” program took the Apple Hill String Quartet back to Ireland for the tenth year. The quartet—violinists Elise Kuder and Sarah Kim, violist Mike Kelley, and cellist Rupert Thompson—played works by Haydn, Schumann, and a premiere by Daniel Sedgwick. Over the course of a few days, musicians from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland joined the players for a chamber-music workshop as part of Apple Hill’s longstanding initiative to promote peace in areas of conflict.
