The world premiere of 3 Themes for Steel-String Guitar, String Quartet, and String Orchestra took place on May 2, 2006, at San Francisco’s landmark Herbst Theatre. The event, a benefit concert for the String Projects and other programs, featured performances by fingerstyle guitarist Alex de Grassi, Quartet San Francisco with violinist Jeremy Cohen, and the San Domenico Orchestra da Camera (winners of the 2005 ASTA National Orchestra Festival Competition), George Thomson, director.

3 Themes for Steel-String Guitar, String Quartet, and String Orchestra was commissioned by String Letter Publishing in celebration of the platinum anniversary of the publishers of Strings, Acoustic Guitar, and Teen Strings.
