Cellist Robert Battey has written a new, comprehensive introduction for a reprint of 500 Sight-Reading Exercises for Cello, an early 20th-century text produced at the Schola Cantorum in Paris. The short, graded exercises cover all styles, keys, time signatures, and musical characters. Throughout, the exercises place particular emphasis on rhythmic variety.
