Beethoven's Op. 70, No. 2, in E-flat Major, Is Trio Writing at Its Highest Level
A kinder, gentler Beethoven steps out of the shadows
I have played piano trio, Op. 70, No. 2, many times in concert, and it’s a joy every time. It has been a while since recording it after winning the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award, so I am relearning it now. I first started learning this work a few years ago, maybe 2006, when my piano trio, the ATOS, was studying all of the trios by Beethoven.
