Hilary Hahn Set to Record Bach Duets and Arias
The new album is to be released in April on the Deutsche Grammophon label
As of Strings' publication date, Hilary Hahn was set to record a large, diverse menu of Bach duets and arias with baritone Matthias Goerne and soprano Christine Schäfer at the end of December in Munich. The new album is to be released in April on the Deutsche Grammophon label. Conductor Alexander Liebreich will lead the Munich Chamber Orchestra on the recording. "I love working with singers, and there isn't a whole lot of repertoire for violin and voice," Hahn says. "But in the past when I've done these kinds of collaborations with singers, we've always come back to this repertoire. So I really wanted to put an album together of this, kind of as an excuse to get to work more intensely with a couple of great singers, and also because it's just beautiful repertoire." The album is a follow up to Hahn's recent bold Schoenberg Violin Concerto, Op. 36/Sibelius Violin Concerto, Op. 47, recorded with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen on Deutsche Grammophon.
