David Garrett Will Portray Paganini in New Film
Crossover artist is ready to play classical music's 'first rock star'
Violinist David Garrett, whose popularity as a crossover artist has sparked the ire of some established classical artists, will portray the legendary player and composer Nicolò Paganini in an upcoming film. According to the Chicago Tribune, Garrett will star in Bernard Rose’s $20 million biopic The Devil’s Violinist, expected to start shooting in August in Europe.
Garrett calls Paganini “the first rock star—an eccentric genius with many flaws,” the Tribune noted.
“It has been a lifelong ambition to be involved in a film about my hero Nicolò Paganini. He has a special place in my heart and to have the opportunity to bring him back to life on the big screen is an extremely exciting experience for me.”
