June 2011 Auction Results
With the frenzy surrounding Tarisio’s recent “Lady Blunt” Strad auction, it was easy to miss that sale’s other notable items. Record breakers included a ca. 1799 Nicolas Lupont violin (£176,000) and a mid-19th century Nicolas Remy Marie violin bow (£33,000). Other records for makers were made at Vichy Enchères’ June 9 auction for an 1866 Vuillaume cello (€231,730), and cello bows from Dominique Peccatte (€126,398) and Eugène Sartory (€59,481).
