A Meeting of the Minds
Rare photo depicts Jascha Heifetz and violin maker Abraham Koodlach
In a handwritten and heartfelt 1924 letter that began “My dear Mr. Koodlach,” violin virtuoso Jascha Heifetz praised the violin maker Abraham Koodlach for repairing his 1742 “ex-David” Guarneri del Gesù violin. The fiddler and the violin maker are depicted in this rare photograph, which was sold on October 10, 2010 by the Skinner auction house. It was part of a lot that included three framed photographs and a photo reproduction of the letter.
