Founded in 2002, the London-based Badke Quartet was looking ahead to the 2009 London International String Quartet Competition when, at the last minute, the members found themselves vying for top honors in the 2007 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. It was their first major competition, yet the musicians walked away with first prize and the audience prize. The Badkes' cellist, Jonathan Byers, shares some tips for groups looking to replicate their recent success.
