Bowing Exercise App for Apple Products
If you’re looking to challenge your bowing skills, you might want to check out a new iPhone/iPad/iPod app developed by Ohio State University professor of double bass Paul Robinson called BowingFun. The program, which is available through the iTunes store, generates random string-crossing exercises for violin, viola, cello, and bass. As Robinson points out, the randomizing feature may be very helpful for challenging your sight-reading skills, “Too often, these types of exercises can be memorized in one or two readings, but with random generation, the player can always be sight-reading.” The exercises are printable and programmable for difficulty levels.
