A producer can make or break your recording project
The explosion happened years ago, but Jodi Levitz still sounds a little awed. The Bay Area violist, now chair of the strings department at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, was working on a recording project with a high-profile musician. “He’s quite famous,” Levitz says, “but I’m not going to give his name.”
The producer on the project wanted one more take on a difficult passage, which turned out to be one too many for the frustrated musician. “He went ballistic on the producer,” Levitz says of the recording artist. “Absolutely ballistic.”
