For its 25.5 pounds, the new Fishman Loudbox Artist packs a lot of power into a portable, feature-packed combo amp. Replacing Fishman’s popular Loudbox 100, the 120-watt Artist’s ideal features for violinists and violists include two channels, each with three-band EQ, direct outs, effects loops, and feedback-fighting features like a phase switch and notch filter. The Loudbox Artist also includes the kinds of effects most useful for string players: reverb, chorus, delay, flanger, and echo. A headphone output enables quiet practice and inputs for an MP3 player make it possible to play along with prerecorded tracks.
