What happens to string players when their bodies begin to defy a musician's requirements? Fading eyesight can often be corrected with glasses. Retraining one's body to play without tension can relieve some repetitive stress injuries. But what happens when someone develops an ache that is beyond the bounds of science or technique to fix? As a bow maker, I recently explored an avenue for a client that didn't involve drugs, surgery, or hanging up her instrument for good.
